Month 2 in review

Who do you think Kaladin looks like?

Thanks, Mom, for making this picture.

November 13-December 16 and Thanksgiving with family!

At the end of the fourth week of Kaladin's life was the 13th of November when we sent Baba and Lolo back home to Georgia.

Daniel went out of town for work, again. So I had to be all alone with Kaladin for the first time ever. But it was only for two nights. It went well. I slept when he slept!! :) Kind of... I mostly stared at the monitor...

It was very quiet but kind of relaxing; well, relaxing when I wasn't paranoid and anxious. I sure do miss my parents and Daniel. And the help. I was so spoiled with Daniel's ten paternity days after Kaladin was born! They are all so helpful and being by myself was an overwhelming thought but I think I did ok.

I got some great cuddles.

Toblakai is very curious, so sometimes I let him look at Kaladin closely... but only sometimes. And I am always close by to make sure he doesn't lick him in his face haha! Toblakai loves to lick!! Toblakai has not shown ANY signs of aggression from jealousy towards Kaladin, or us. SO thankful he is doing so well :)

Whether you are an animal, or dog, person, it is still important for a good "transition" when baby arrives! I was never once worried about the transition but I knew that Daniel and I would have to be diligent in doing what we needed to do and doing as much research as we could before Kaladin's arrival. So for us, we made sure to talk to Toblakai after talking to Kaladin. And giving Toblakai the affirmation, through pets and praise, that we knew he was still there and affirming him that we were not ignoring him now that there was a little person in his home. He is protective and he is vocal when others enter the home, we are thankful for that! There is a time and a place for that and we are working on communicating that to little Toblakai; he's still a puppy! In the end, we are hoping that we are doing the right things in making this transition painless for Toblakai :) Our wish is that they grow up together and become best friends ;) We love our little boys!!

The first week of his second month, Kaladin became more aware of sounds and light.

On November 16th, he was officially one month old!

 1 week vs 1 month.

He does spit up but not bad at all. I've seen babies with soaked clothes. We just have to have a spit up cloth close by just in case. And he has yet to have a projectile spit up...sorry for the visual. ;P

Eating is still going great! He is getting a few little baby rolls already.

He loves eating... what a boy ;) and he loves to suckle on paci's. But he still does not have any nipple confusion so I'm so happy about that! He gets pretty sleepy every time he nurses, but he responds well when I speak to him. He kind of lets his hands go crazy when nursing and sometimes they hit my face, or scratch my neck. But I love holding them and kissing them when my other hand is free :)

He has began to try mimicking our sounds with his mouth and it's pretty adorable!

Tummy time continues to be "fun"... for the first few minutes.

We have the pack 'n play set up in our living room and I put him down on his back so I could walk into the kitchen to get some water. Came back to this...

The day after Daniel returned home from his work trip, his parents arrived. They drove from Georgia and were here until Saturday, the 29th!

We got to have Thanksgiving with them. My first Thanksgiving at my own home which was exciting!

We tried to get the channel with the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade but our antenna was being a little stubborn that day... We rigged it up in the living room with the help of the step stool.

It is such a blessing that we get to spend the holiday with family unlike last year.

Even before Kaladin was born, I contemplated about going Black Friday shopping.

But I really love it so we did go and Kaladin did fine. Great, in fact! We didn't go crazy and wait in any long lines and we only went to a few stores.

It was "relaxed shopping" ;) which helped keep Kaladin calm. And he slept for the most part.

This was a not-so-relaxing part... He cried because he was sleepy. The toy spider is unrelated to his emotions. But it was humorous.

But then he was asleep again. These pictures are exactly 5 minutes apart lol!

Speaking of sleep...

Kaladin slept 5 hours during the night four times his 6th week of life and about three times his 7th week!! It makes me sorta sad. He's growing up too fast ;P and I wake up almost every two hours just to make sure he's still breathing!! If I said I don't like it just a little, I'd be lying. I do enjoy the extra rest but I had just gotten used to seeing him throughout the night, that now I started to miss seeing him as often! Ha.

His naps are lasting about 1-2.5 hours each.

When the Potter's left to go back to Georgia, it was sad but we knew we would be seeing them soon at Christmas time! It was during the Georgia vs. GT football game that they departed and they got the news of the crazy last few minutes of the game over the radio on their drive back. Fun game!!

The day they left, Gigi was talking sweet to Kaladin and he smiled for her!! :)

At 7 weeks old,  we took his mittens off. They say this is about the time they start recognizing their own hands and is good for their development. But he still scratches his face and it's so sad :(

Unfortunately, we were unable to get him baptized at church while the Potter's were here, but we did have him baptized at 7 weeks old. The morning of, he woke up extremely happy; smiling the whole morning. He slept during the service and he did great at the baptism. A friend even got it on video for us :)

Thank you, Heather, for this picture :)

My postpartum check up went well. Daniel and Kaladin went with me and Kaladin slept the whole time. Doctor had no concerns and I was cleared to return to working out! Yay. But while we were waiting for the doctor, I took lots and lots of pictures of my boys. So many faces... I'm pretty smitten by these two! <3

Kaladin has some hair and it is actually pretty long...

At eight weeks old, we introduced a bottle and Kaladin took it well!

We went grocery shopping and took him to WalMart for the first time. He did so well! He was looking all around and was awake the whole time.

Kaladin does independent playtime every morning for about 30 minutes. He loves his play mat and enjoys grabbing, and pulling, on the toys.

He is an overall easy baby; only whines and cries when he needs something and we are quick to discover what that need is. The crying has not yet become frustrating for us. Unless it's in the middle of the night, and I'm tired ;P hehe.

This month, we still got gifts for baby Kaladin!! They were from the Chaplain's and Chaplain Assistants of Fort Hood. It was so sweet and thoughtful of them!

At his two-month dr appointment, he weighed 10 lbs 14 oz! He is now wearing a size 1 diaper and is still sleeping in his co-sleeper right next to my side of the bed. He has outgrown some of his newborn outfits but not all of them! And he has started to wear a couple of 3 month clothes.

Our town has food trucks downtown on Fridays. Daniel and I had been wanting to go for the longest time so we finally ventured out. Being that this was Kaladin's second month of life, I became more relaxed with taking him out and exposing him to the world's germs, ha. Yes, I am "that mom"! Kaladin seems to be just like his daddy, in that he loves being outside. :)

I crave funnel cakes... at all times!

As Kaladin approached the beginning of his third month of life, we were busy preparing to go home for Christmas and excited to see family!

On December 16th, Kaladin was officially 2 months old. Time has flown by!

Now for baby spam of his second month:
